When creating/editing a relationship field, there is an option where you can restrict the entries returned, based on authors.

However, is there a way to set this so that you only return the entries that is authored by the current user logged in the Control panel?

Not possible natively - it would take a custom extension to do.

Are there resources for doing this? I am familiar with creating hook handlers but I am not familiar with creating the actual extension/hook.

If I am not mistaken, this is a tutorial for creating custom add-ons, not create custom hooks?

I was trying to find out if you can create your own custom hooks somewhere where it does not piggyback on an existing one.

This is because I haven’t seen any hook where I can latch on to the functionality I posted.

If there is no hook then your only only option (so far as I know) is hacking the core EE files.

Might be a question better asked on StackExchange however.

Not sure if this is going to work but is it possible to copy the current relationship fieldtype, modify it to support my features, then rename it to something else?
