Issue with login redirect and ajax template

Hey all, I have a form set up which includes a set of filters (categories). Selecting these filters will update a div on my page via a template with the minimal HTML to insert into the div. It works beautifully.

However, it was recently discovered that when you login from this page after the filter has been interacted with.. the redirect takes you to the ajax template and not the existing page the user is actually on. And of course, this page looks like crap when loaded as a standalone page.

I understand EE is tracking the ajax page as the last page viewed. Is there a way around this? Is there some template code I am missing which will not allow the ajax page to be viewed standalone?

I have many instances of this ajax setup so conditionals to specify redirect pages for the login bit would get a little crazy. Is there a simpler solution? Any feedback would be appreciated.
