I have a page that displays a Film review. Each film in the database has a film genre as a Channel Field associated with it. How do I create a list on the review page that lists the other film reviews that have the same genre? Say other sic fi movies?

Seems intuitive, but can’t figure it out.

Thanks in advance,

Have you investigated using categories instead? Sounds like a perfect used for it- then there are built-in tags & parameters to do what you want.

Ok, as a noob I’ll try to understand. Right now I have the FILM Channel with several FIELDS. Film title, content, release date and GENRE.

On the the film review page I want to include related articles, or films of the same genre. To do this I’d create a “film genre” category and assign each film to a category?

I bought your book, so I’ll go through it so I create the category correctly.

Right - you’d create a Genres category group, create individual genres within it, and then assign each entry to one (or more) genres.

This would allow your category display, a page of all titles organized by category, etc.

Cool. I also have Music, Games, TV. Would that GENRE catagory also be used with those channels as well or would each need it’s own category? The genre would be different in each channel… Music would have Rock, Contemporary, etc. While Games would be be different too.

Thanks for your help!

Those sound like different category groups then.

Many thanks. I’ll set the categories up and get the mark up from your book.

One more stupid question. How do I make sure the Category tag pulls the category of the main story on the page? If the film review on the page is a scfi movie, I only want to show a lit of other scifi movie reviews.

Thanks,
