I am attempting a clean install 2.X on Lion Server, running mySQL 5.0.8
The wizard reports ‘NO’ for MySQL (Version 4.1+) support in PHP
A search has indicated that any connection problem could be the reason for the no.
I wondered about LOCALHOST but, I am able to connect to the db locally using the same credentials. (using Navicat or any other mySQL tool)
Any idea what else could be causing the issue? Since it is my own server, do I need to alter the mySQL config in some way? I have checked the settings against working installations on other servers using a phptest file, and can’t see anything awry..
Any suggestions greatly appreciated..

Hi Philip,
Thanks for posting in the forums!
Server environment issues are better suited for Development and Programming. I would suggest you come at this from a Lion Server angle. Can you make a generic connection to the database in regular PHP? Have you made sure that PHP can talk to MySQL?
Cheers,
Thanks Dan - Sorry for the wrong destination for my post..
I discovered late last night that since mySQL is no longer included in OS X Lion Server, the standard install places it somewhere other than where EE expects to find it. I was able to connect to mySQL from all other sources.
Once I knew that I was able to find the location of the mysql.sock and place a symbolic link to it from the directory EE normally uses.
Might I make a suggestion that the Compatability Wizard add a line or two of explanation in the mySQL line to clear up the confusion? Currently it reports that version 4.1.+ is needed as the error message. It might be better to say that EE can’t find mySQL - you may need to repoint to where it is installed..
Thanks again for the response = my issue can be closed.
Philip
