I’ve got a good 100 members, each uploading 10 pics a month or more. The editor regularly has to go into the upload folder and select some featured images, but that’s quickly becoming unwieldy. Especially since photos are usually named PS000231.JPG, that sort of thing.
Ideally we could designate a subfolder for each safecracker_file field in the upload form, so that each member could have their own folder (within the main uploads folder i’ve set up already). In Drupal you can have tokens, e.g. “%username” in upload paths to accomplish this sort of thing.
Failing that, maybe a way to filter the File Manager thumbnail view by author name (it currently filters by filename only). That sounds like a nice stopgap.
Anyone know of any techniques to bring some order to the chaos of an image avalanche?
Am I reading this right that you have a special upload field for each member?
For managing images, the only thing that is springing to mind is hooking into the entry save event and modifying the path there. That is going to be hacky though… I’ve done it a few times and the EE data structure for this information has changed and broken my plugins before.
By any chance, have you taken a look at the 2.4 changelog entry?:
That may open some possibilities for you.
