Hi Guys,
Im investigating restricting access on a per entry basis and was hoping someone may be able to identify whether an add on already exists for this and if I am approaching this in the correct manor, or perhaps have missed a trick here!!
Im looking to get more control over specific entry permissions, I need to be able to restrict / secure access to individual entries, namely structure pages & listings.
I need to be able to specify this on an entry basis, allowing easy client control over which entries are secure and what is not.
In it’s basic form it would allow for you to:
In its advanced form:
Currently im investigating adding a custom filed to channel fields which identifies this and could then perform the redirect from within the entries tag? This does seem to do the trick, but it just doesn’t sit well with me.
I know i can restrict access by template, but it doesn’t feel right having a second version of my page template for secure pages, firstly it means more embeds and also more for the client to get his head around!
Any thoughts / input into this would be really really appreciated!
Many thanks,
Sam
Hey Sam,
I have a module that I developed for EE 2.2.2 that removes entries from exp:channel:entries results based on specific categories that the post is assigned to. It attempts to supplement the results to make up for the missing entries (primarily when a limit= is imposed).
If this sounds like it might be useful, send me a PM with your email address. I’m not quite ready to release it but would be interested in additional feedback.
EDIT: I should mention that the module provides cursory support for assigning members to specific categories, and will remember them – although they must be logged in.
