Is there a guide to updating v1 modules to v2?

Greetings
I’ve inherited an EE1 site that has a couple of custom modules. One extends the default Search module for some customised searchery and the other is completely custom functionality.
I need to update the site to EE2 but I’m not sure where to start with re-factoring the modules so they work with EE2. Are there any guides out there or at least some pointers in what needs to be changed, updated and rewritten?

The biggest suggestion I’d make up-front is to review the extension hooks being used and verify that they do exist in EE2. Beyond that, the link above should be very beneficial.
