Module dev CP form post help

Hi guys,
I’m busy developing a simple module, at the moment I’m working on a form in the CP.
Basically the problem is that when I post the form something happens and the browser is redirected to the CP dashboard.
When I paste the action link into the browser it gets to the right place.
If I kill the script at the EE index.php file, it exits and is at the correct url. I’ve been looking through the dev docs but have not found anything useful.
Any help would be appreciated.

addon_modules controller gets instantiated.
in the parent constructor(CI_Controller) nothing out of the ordinary happens but as soon as it exits the constructor the redirect happens, anyone have any idea why?
This only happens on post and not if the url is laoded manually.
