Can’t set cookie/session in plugin

Hello,
I’m trying to set cookie from plugin, that doesnt working. my code is below -
$this->EE->functions->set_cookie('field', $val);Also, how can i store some data in expressionengine session?

Are you receiving any error messages? How are you accessing the cookie value after you set it?
As far as sessions go I generally just use PHP sessions - $_SESSION.
