I’m curious if anyone has more detailed information about the development of NSM Publish Plus for EE2.

From what I can tell Leevi wants to upgrade it but the hooks are not yet available.

3. NSM Publish Plus: Haven’t started

15 April 2010

EE 2.0 is still being developed so its impossible to give a concrete yes. However I have every intention of making it available if the EE 2.0 codebase allows.

12 October 2010

When the hooks become available I’ll port the adding over. Hopefully by the end of the year.

1 December 2010

NSM Publish Plus isn’t coming for EE 2.x for the foreseeable future

I’m curious what is still needed from EE and if they have a timetable for that stuff.

The lack of Publish Plus is one of the major reasons I can’t even look at EE2 yet. That and a dozen other functions….

I got an update via Twitter from @leevigraham

6 December 2010

Basically it needs client funding to get off the ground in the near future. At that stage I’ll do some more research.

The company I work for asked him directly to do this for us, but the price he asked for was too high. We ended up creating out own version based on the work he did and are working out bugs now.

Not sure I’m keen on “based on the work he did”. Can you explain that comment in more detail?

I looked at how you handled the functionality, and created my own module and extension from scratch. No code was copied. Most of the hooks you used were no longer in EE2, so I decided it would be much easier to start all over. I based my add-on around some things you had already done, such as adding a draft table and using a draft segment identifier to preview drafts inline on the site.

Would you be interested in another beta tester? The Web Standards Project has a new endeavor that could really benefit from this.

I would also like to be a part of beta testing. Please put me on the list…

Will there be any further development on Publish Plus for EE2?

Seems like this is a perfect solution… It’s a shame it’s not available.

With the acquisition of SafeCracker, perhaps EL can offer a solution to making Publish Plus for EE2 happen?

+1

Really wish this were available for EE2. Honestly, it should be built into the system and not an add-on, but I’ll take what I can get if someone were to release an add-on with the functionality of Publish Plus.

Upon further review this isn’t exactly what we need, but its good to see Leevi moving towards creating a solution that will.

According to EE Insider:

Man, I just watched the overview video of NSM Publish Plus… http://vimeo.com/3831271

It’s frustrating knowing that such a brilliant add-on once existed for EE, but doesn’t anymore. No doubt the majority of site owners probably publish their content solo, but for those sites that are bigger operations, this was a God send. It’s been years since I’ve used WordPress so I can mo longer speak to their feature set, let alone those of the available WP add-ons, but I feel NSM Publish Plus really helps position EE as a professional tool.

It’s a real shame its no longer available. I wonder what Leevi would need in order to dedicate his time towards porting it over?

Hoping to keep this in the spotlight as I’m still hunting for a solution.

I am also looking for a add on similar to publish plus. Does anyone have any alternate suggestions. I would be willing to contribute towards development of this add-on.
