A project we’re working on is really looking like it would be a HUGE advantage if we could reply to comment notifications VIA EMAIL to post a reply to the site.
My question is:
any just general off-the-top-of-your-head ideas if there is any functionality that would make this possible (we were thinking some combination of cron+php+hooks, but haven’t actually planned it out yet). At the end of the day we could do it via codeignitor.
anyone interested in helping with this project? My devloper is actually excited to do it himself, but if someone wants to team up with us, it could be quicker/better/awesome.
Thanks! Chuck
We never finished, no. We started and it was fairly simple to get EE to read emails via POP3.
However, once we started playing with the ‘auto-responses’ & ‘footers’ and other quirks… we did a soft quit (just put it aside and forgot about the whole project!). Lol.
It would be awesome to build an publicly available CI library or something that reads all the various headers + knows what parts of the emails to port as content. That was our idea that trailed us off into giving up. Fail.
I am also interested in this as a feature. I often work with small communities like non profits. Commenting is not open to the public. Being able to reply to comments by simply hitting reply in your email is perfect for my client base. Freshbooks does this well. Anyone know of how to do this? It’s a year and a half later, surely someone has figured this out? Thanks so much!
