If this has been answered on here, I apologize, I was unable to find a post relating to this. I am using the members module and I am creating custom fields for the data that I need to capture. I need some radio buttons and checkboxes, but EE doesn’t seem to support those fields. Is there a way I can add these without hacking the core?

This is the only solution I was able to find. http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Enable_radio_buttons_and_checkboxes_for_custom_member_profile_fields/

Did you have any joy with this problem Scott? I’m facing the same thing.

It seems mildly absurd that Expression Engine 2.x does not to support all standard XHTML field types for custom member profile creation by default. I’m trying to have a group of new members choose areas of expertise from a list of around 30 pre-defined choices (they can choose more than one). Under normal circumstances checkboxes would be the way forward but that option is not available to me when creating a custom member field type.

Any feedback or suggestions from anyone with experience of this would be greatly welcomed.

If you’re able to buy the Solspace User Module you might get some joy here. Certainly from reading this post:

… it would appear that it is possible. I’m going to try it out over the course of the next few days.

Hi,

Just found myself in the same quandary.

Did either of the previous posters find a solution or an add-on for this issue?

Thanks,

Charlie

Using the Solspace User module and the outlines provided in the archived forum thread here (http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/60304/), I managed to achieve what I was setting out to do. Best of luck.
