Two Database Issue

I think I am having some conflicting issues with the use of two databases.

We have a very robust website that is database driven and PHP coded that manages the inventory for our used cars.

We have created an EE section that will be used to manage content sections and build out the home page. The home page needs to have three sections that point to the inventory database.

We have an embeds file that submits the connection string to the inventory database.

I keep getting an error message with this information. The error points to the EE files….

Here is the error message…

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘:’, expecting ‘,’ or ‘;’ in /home/iwantaus/public_html/new/cms/system/expressionengine/libraries/Functions.php(640) : eval()’d code on line 62
