Custom member field types

Not that I know of, but I was thinking of developing a module in the near future to allow members to have custom fields using any standard custom field type, if there isn’t any existing way to do it.

No, I couldn’t find any existing solution to this and don’t have the time to write something from scratch so have had to find another way of tagging my members.

If you do make any progress with an add-on I’d be very interested to hear about it.

I am stuck here too while building a proof of concept: I need to link members to channel entries (a companies channel). It would be great to have a custom member field (drop down list) that is populated by the channel.

I know there are member field types to link channel entries to members (eg. Member List Custom Field - http://devot-ee.com/add-ons/member-list-custom-field/) or you could use Solspace’s User module to assign multiple authors/members to a channel entry, but it would be more logical to link the member to its company by using a custom member field.

Any idea on how to do this? Or should I consider another approach?
