EE2 - Access to entry title in post_save function?

I’m working with some new fieldtypes. In the post_save function I have access to things like:

$this->settings['entry_id']
$this->settings['field_id']

is there an easy way at this point to get the title of the channel entry being made/saved?

Would like to avoid a pointless sql call, and for some reason I just can’t find the title.
