I do suggest, though, that the marketing text for Missing Link be tweaked. The following sentence seems misleading to me: “Missing Link makes it possible to access all of EE2’s major content and site management features from the front-end of your site.” While technically correct, this sentence probably makes many EE developers think SAEF. It might be better to have them think about a powerful connection between the front-end and the Control panel…. more specifically, an easy-to-use connection that clients will greatly appreciate.

Thanks for the suggestion fjldude. I admit I don’t think a second career as a copywriter is on the cards for me anytime soon, and I did find it a bit tricky to sum it up in a couple of sentences. I’ll have another go at that and see if I can make it a bit clearer.

Been looking for something like this, so I purchased it. Unfortunately I am running into a small problem: my system directory resides outside the root of my home directory, so it is unable to load any of the requisite images, etc.

Sorry about that Jerman. Believe it or not I actually had a /themes/missing_link folder for almost the entire development process and then switched to having everything in the third_party folder at the last minute, just to make everything self-contained. I’ll have a think about the best solution to this and will release an update shortly. I suspect it’s just going a case of adding a new Assets URL field to the settings, so those who do want/need to change it can do so easily. Glad to hear it’s working well for you now though.

Missing Link 1.1 is now available to download - it includes support for EE installations outside of the web root and new keyboard shortcuts.

I challenge anyone to hit ctrl+e and not think ‘ooh, that’s cool’. 😉

Are there any plugins that have similar functionality for 1.6.x?

I’m afraid I’m not aware of any, nor do I have plans to release Missing Link for 1.6 at this time.
