What features do you have in mind so far?
I know users want to be able to allow clients to set available times for appointments and let their clients reserve their own time. So sign-up limits (1-person per availability, etc.) associated with time slots is important. RSVPs. Ability to cancel up to a certain number of hours/days before reservation. I suppose cancellation charge if appropriate? I’ll see what else I can remember.
That would be useful, my thinking and current development is to treat an event on a per day or several days basis, whereas your suggestion takes this and effectively creates events (or appointments) for a set period of hours.
Right. The clients who’ve asked about this type of thing either wanted to reserve tennis courts, or another wanted to allow users to set up warehouse pickup times within set hours, or another who wanted to let individuals schedule appointments.
In the case that smartpill is talking about, I also imagine it would be useful for those appointment slot-type events to be recurring so that they don’t have to be recreated all the time. This may be extending too far, but SMS confirmations of appointments also seems to be a popular feature these days, particularly with medical-related services.
Another use case that I had come up recently was for golf events: four players tee off at the same time, when a timeslot if filled up, the next person to register gets bumped into the next available timeslot, or they could choose from any timeslots to still available.
For a different type of event, nominations stay open for a predetermined period; sometimes they get more nominations than they have places for in which case, only the X number of players with the best handicaps are accepted, and everyone else is given a refund. Bit of an odd case that last one, particularly with the refunds.
