Hi all! It has been ages since I last posted here on the forums. I return bearing good news.

I originally launched Repeet over four years ago. By “faking” recurring events it presented an interesting solution to a frustrating problem in EE. But it gradually became apparent that many EE users needed a “real” calendar module. So I said “Sure, I can build that”. I started a calendar module several times, in fact. But I was never able to finish for various reasons. I’m sure I frustrated the snot out of some of you. For that I apologize.

But there’s good news. Finally.

On Friday Solspace released Calendar, a real, live, honest-to-goodness, non-beta (!!!) calendar module for ExpressionEngine. I won’t say too much about it – I didn’t come here to make a sales pitch. I just came here to update the community on something we’ve all been craving for years. If you want more information about the module you can read the docs.

I want to thank Mitchell Kimbrough for backing the project. Without his support Calendar would still be a dream. Buy him a beer on behalf of the EE community the next time you see him.

If you have specific questions about Calendar you’ll want to use the Solspace Support Forum. I will answer one question here, however. Namely: Is Calendar 1.0 compatible with EE 2.x? The answer is no, but it will be. Thanks to Solspace’s Bridge, a handy package that makes it possible to write EE addons for EE 1.x and 2.x simultaneously, Calendar is mostly compatible with 1.x and 2.x out of the box. Once I figure out a few control panel and extension hook issues Calendar will be fully ready to go in 2.x.

To those of you who have waited for a true calendar module for years, thank you for your patience. I think you’ll find Calendar worth the wait.

Hiya,

Great to see you back on here again, welcome back 😊

Looks like a very very capable module by reading the documentation (of which there’s loads 😉 ). Would be great to see maybe a site with some calendars on it though as a demonstration if that’s at all possible?

Well done on the module though I’m sure that will get a lot of attention.

Best wishes,

Mark
