Hey everyone,
Running in to a bit of an issue here. I’m getting started developing Add-ons and decided to create a simple ‘tagging’ add-on so that you can add tags to channel entries etc.
I wanted to create a new fieldtype for this so I could apply certain formatting restrictions to it, and the possibility of looking up existing tags as they’re typing away.
Anyway, I can’t seem to get a custom fieldtype added. If I duplicate the code of any field in expressionengine/fieldtypes and modify the names it’ll work fine, aslong as I keep it in that directory - though according to the documentation it should be in the third_party directory.
Is there something else I need to do in order for EE to pick up my new custom field type in the third_party directory?
Cheers, Daniel
[Mod Edit: Moved to the Custom Field API Development forum]
It seems like I made the wrong choice with regards to picking up EE 2.0 so early, most of the addons I’ve looked at haven’t upgrade yet :( That Freelancer license was just so tempting…
Regardless of the third party tagging module available, does anyone have any insight with regards to my issue of creating the custom fieldtype? I’m struggling to find any examples that are EE 2.0 compatible to draw from.
Daniel,
If you’re still interested in giving this a shot, we added some proper documentation and an example fieldtype in our latest build.
I know that there is at least one tagging module that is currently being worked on, but I don’t know of any that have been released at this point.
