I took Leevi’s template info plugin and copied it to the system/expression/plugins directory. It didn’t appear in the plugins list. Looking at other plugins I noticed some code that had to be added to the usage() procedure. I did so and php -l … didn’t indicate any errors. Copied it to the directory again and it still doesn’t show up.
So: is this the right place? if not or if I did it wrong how do I add a plugin in EE2.0?, how do I see any errors which might result if I botched the edits?
Please follow the docs. You need to put your plugin in its own directory inside of system/expressionengine/third_party/.
ETA: Yes, exactly 😉

Hmmm, I looked in the developer documentation for guidance on converting plugins and missed this particular advice.
I’ve done this exactly with several plugins -Allow EECode and Wikee Display. I still am not getting them to appear in the plug-ins list in the control panel.
Is there anything else I could be doing wrong??
////////////////UPDATE:
Ok, I installed all of the plug ins from here: http://expressionengine.com/public_beta/downloads/
…and then I tried it again and it magically worked. Man… I think I’m going to have to check myself into a mental institution soon!
