nGen File Field + image size

My edit weblog page was showing a blank page, and I tracked this down to the nGen File Field extension. Disabling the extension fixed the page. I eventually tracked this down further to an uploaded image which was 1.45MB- deleting the image made the edit weblog page display correctly again.

I need to stop this happening again. The problem is- I can’t impose an upload size restriction as my members need to be able to upload images of this size- they are not technically minded users.

As a solution, is there a way to resize the images on the server after upload via nGen File Field?

Looks like an issue with nGen File. Let me move this thread to “Extensions” for you.

Unfortunately not. I haven’t found a fix for large image uploads via nGen File Field breaking edit weblog pages. Nor have I found a way to automatically resize the images on the server after upload.

I hope someone else can help us with this!

For automatically resizing images, you should try the imagesizer plugin. It doesn’t automatically create resized images on upload, it resizes and caches them at the template level. So in your template you specify dimensions and it will generate whatever size you specify.

Thanks, I’m already using the imagesizer plugin, which works well. I’m only looking for a way to resize images on the server to prevent the nGen File Field extension problem.
