Trying to get weblog entry data from inside a module

I am creating a module that references weblog entries by entry_id and/or url_title. I was wondering if there was a way to get the the data for the weblog entry.

I guess what I am thinking of is something like $DB->get_weblog_entry($id); that would return all of the weblog data with custom fields and all.

Any help is greatly appreciated, Jeremy
