creating a relationship between a table and the members’ list

I am designing a fairly complex database structure that requires establishing relationships between registered members and several other tables.
As far as I can tell, there is no way to either define a custom profile field as a relationship, or to create a custom field in a table that is a relationship to an entry in the members’ list. Is this accurate, or am I missing something here?
If that is not possible out-of-the-box, does anyone have a suggestion as how to solve this? (Feel free to move the second part of my question to another forum, if necessary).

Franco, this isn’t available out of the box. This sounds like something you’d use with FieldFrame (a third party app) you’d need to code.

thanks you for this information. I have found a good solution using the LG memberlist extension as a way to link directly to the memberlist but using a separate table for defining/accessing specific custom fields.
