    Hi Mark,

Could you send me the following info:

    - EE version
    - other extensions installed
    - OS and Browser info

and if possible PM me the source of the page.

@Victor, it doesn’t remove anything, links work fine here. I suspect there is either an extension conflict or some browser quirk I am not seeing.

It is time for bed in Amsterdam, please send me some info and we’ll get this fixed tomorrow!

    Hi Elwin,

Forget I ever spoke!! Just tried it in Safari and it is there!! I was using Firefox so there must be a problem with that. I was using Firefox as I type in my templates directly and unfortunately Safari is putting in some weird characters in long templates but for the editing of entries which I will be doing it works fine in Safari so not really a problem but would be nice if it worked in Firefox.

    Thanks.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

P.S. Hope it’s all good over in Amsterdam at the moment. Nice weather I mean.

    Mark,

Could you still send me that info?

Since it isn’t working (for you) in Firefox there must be something that needs fixing.

@Victor, want to help making this extension work better? 😉

    p.s. blue skies today mate!

    Hi Elwin,

Good to hear about the blue skies you lucky devil!! 😊 I live in Birmingham in the UK so we pretty much most of the time get a kind of grey value to the skys hue. Probably something to do with all the smog and pollution though!! 😊

I’ve PM’d you the information that you asked about. Perhaps you could fix my Firefox whilst you’re at it also as whenever I download files they come out with weird names and are always very small. Nah only kidding about that one! I have no idea what that problem is and probably never will.

Anyway have sent you all the info you asked for in a PM. Hope it helps.

    Thanks for everything.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

    Hi Elwin,

A very quick update for you. I tried removing extensions until I found one that was conflicting with it which I should have done in the first place before bothering you with all this so for that I apologise.

I have found out that it is Live-search which is stopping the Edit Categories link from appearing. As soon as I remove that extension it all works as advertised on the tin!! 😊

I don’t really have to use the Live Search extension so I can live without it for now.

Just thought you should know to hopefully save you a lot of work if you hadn’t already started that is?

    Best wishes,

    Mark

I did already dive in but found the link showed up fine on Leopard and Firefox 2.0.0.10

The problem with the livesearch extension might be that it adds its javascript after the closing html tag, instead of somewhere in the head or body.

    </body>
    </html>< script type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8" >...

Maybe your specific Firefox version can’t handle that 😉

    Cheers,
    Elwin

    Hiya,

Yeah I looked at that and was wondering why the Javascript was placed there for the Live Search extension. A bit weird that. Oh well it all works now as I don’t really use the Live Search extension as much as I thought I would so I have just disabled it for now.

Thanks for looking into this for me.

    Best wishes,

    Mark

Nice one, Elwin. Now, if you’ve got some time to spare, why not add some JavaScript to enable a shift-click. You know, to select a range of categories with 2 clicks. 😊

    Thanks,

I did some testing by ‘borrowing’ and adapting EE’s ‘magic checkbox’ code.
It worked, but didn’t produce the result I was looking for.

Might look into it some other time.
