Hello Derek and other kind souls,
First, it looks great and I’d love to sink my teeth into the CSS to really play (it’s fun, you know it is). However, when I do what the directions say, which is, as I understand, to rename the theme_member.php file to profile_theme.php - a back up of the original on hand, of course - then access a member template, I get an error:
Fatal error: Class 'profile_theme' not found in /no-you-can't-get-in-my-EE-install-nice-try/modules/member/mod.member.php on line 2196What did I do wrong?

The class name changes, but the methods do not. Change the class definition in your new file from ‘theme_member’ to ‘profile_theme’ and I believe that will get you where you want to be.

Hi Derek,
I touched on this earlier in the PM (and realize you’re to busy to support all the requests), but I wanted to put it here in case anyone else wanted to take a stab at the problem. When you’re replying to a post and you try to click the “[+] options” pop up menu, it does not work in Internet Explorer 7 (haven’t tried 6). Works fine on FireFox, Safari Windows, and Opera.
I uploaded a fresh copy of the minimalist theme to be sure it wasn’t something I had done, and it still does not work.
Thanks

Yes, I’m aware, Deron. Internet Explorer (all versions) do not support the ‘table-row’ value of the CSS display property. If you want IE compatibility, you’ll need to either leave the options visible at all times, or use an alternate method of showing and hiding the table row. You might try replacing ‘table-row’ with an empty string, which some Googling shows will typically let the browser revert to the element’s default display value. As this was a labor of love and not something intended to become a packaged theme, I had little interest in testing IE compatibility.

Ah, I see. 😊 I’ve been working frantically to figure out what I possibly could have done to make it not work in IE. Glad to know it’s default behavior. I think just showing it by default would be my best option here. Thanks Derek.

Sorry to say but i can’t get it to work in profile_themes. I get a
he following errors were encountered
The page you requested was not found
Maybe i did something wrong?
i don’t have the forum module. i copied theme_member.php to profile_themes/minimalist and renamed it to profile_theme.php, then changed the classname to class profile_theme and also copied the images directory from the minimalist download to the directory.
I noticed that there are no html_header() functions and some others inside the profile_theme file declared (but are in theme_global.php).
Could you explain which files i should at least copy or merge and/or where i should put these
for the minimalist to work with the membership module? (no forum module)
Anybody else without forum-module who got this to work?

Anybody got the minimalist-theme working without forum-module?
#24 / Apr 11, 2008 5:31pm
Well, here’s a simple question.
I’ve downloaded this theme and uploaded all the files (and image directory) to site-themes/minimalism.
Now, what do I have to do to test it? Where do I activate it for a test weblog?
A link to previously-existing threads would be fine; I think I just don’t know the right search terms ...

Hi, seajay - this isn’t a site_theme, it’s a forum theme. It is not for use with the weblogs, though you could certainly build a site around that CSS file.

The (kinda working beta) download for EE-minimalist-theme-for-standalone-member-profiles can be found in the other thread

Thanks, Lisa. I did, indeed, think it was a site theme.
Is there a minimalist-type site theme available as a foundation for custom styling. I find myself stripping a lot out of each the themes I’ve been working with ...

I think that Hemingway is brilliant and beautiful and minimal all at the same time:

Hey seajay,
If you want a copy of Hemingway already ported to EE, feel free to grab a copy here: Hemingway for ExpressionEngine.
