Art students would probably chastise me for even applying this label at all, much less applying it in what it most certainly not accurately following the “minimalism” movement.  But for me it fits, and since in this case I’m the artist, isn’t that all that matters?  I see your snobbery and raise you two aloofs!

There are many times where less is more.

Thanks, Derek for the new theme. Heck, we might even start a contest on taking this minimal theme and create modifications for it. 😊

The member profile templates are also styled and minimalized in this theme.  You can pretty much take the code and CSS 1:1 for the regular member templates if you aren’t running the Discussion Forum.

    Awesome. You’re a hero.

I was almost thinking about running Vanilla or PunBB rather then the EE forums as they are a hassle to style but this makes things a lot easier.

    Thank you!

Great work, and a good starting point to add your own (minimalist or maximalist) touches. Cheers!

Are you going to offer it as an option from the theme change button below for these forums right here? Then we can testdrive it straight away 😊

For now, this theme will be offered simply as a download here from the blog.  It takes a considerable amount of development time to maintain all of these themes across all updates, and our current schedule wouldn’t allow for it’s inclusion, but perhaps in the future.  If you do a Google search for ‘ExpressionEngine discussion forum Minimalist’ you can find a number of forums running the theme live.

Very nice! Won’t have to do much work at all to get the minimalism theme to mesh with my existing design. Just a couple color changes and viola, done!

As for the member profile templates…by your comments above, you can use the minimalism theme for them too? Should I just take the “minimalism” directory and upload it to my remote server under the “profile_themes” directory?

No, but if you open theme_member.php in the Minimalist theme, you’ll see that you can basically copy / paste / rename that file to a new theme in your profile theme folder and basically be done.  The forum member themes use the member module, so they are for all practical purposes identical in need.
