    The question is.
Are they going to implement our request?

One would hope. Regardless, we should make our requests known.

I’m not a big fan of the new design in general, but the forum really need some love…

    - Grey text on white: please, don’t.
    - No avatar/no post count: the 2 things that helped scanning posts.
    - Code blocks: even with sunglasses on, they’re still painful to look at.
    - Visually confusing: “Posted: 29 November…” belongs to content above or below?

The code blocks in the RSS feeds are illegible, white color on white fond .

—Removing the Job Board was a mistake. Helping your developers stay employed using your product is only a good thing for you.

—Removing the Signatures is a mistake. I love making libraries & tutorials for the community, but my time is valuable & I’m not going to bother if I only have minimal ways of telling people about it & only get 10 downloads, and then have to post the same answer to a problem I’ve solved in 50 posts because I can’t get the word out about it.

Sometimes, when I return to the forums, I am logged in, sometimes I’m not. That’s the one thing.
Secondly: Sometimes I have items in my cart. When I click on them the page requires me to log in - yet I can’t because my forums account does not work. When going back one page I am logged out and need to log back in. Then the item in my cart is gone. I’m always wondering: When the hell did I put these things in my cart? o.O

Haha yeah Phil that happened to me a couple times, too.

The little boxes that allow me to collapse forums I don’t really care about are kind of useless, since my selections are lost once my session is. I have to collapse them every time I log in.

I received a PM via email, but my account does not show it in the Account Settings page. I have no way to reply other than find that user somewhere in the forums.

If I released this kind of buggy software into production, my client would refuse to pay me.

I wonder what the rationale is behind merging the forums together.

Are they trying to force-feed EE/MM to the CI community? Apart from all other annoyances already mentioned in this thread, this is what annoys me the most. I don’t give a .... about EE/MM, and I’m not in the market for it. Get it out of this forum, or provide a way to filter it permanently.

The way it is going at the moment, and the total lack of response from Ellislab to what’s been said here, makes me wonder how much longer I should bother coming here and put up with this…

Another thing about the new graphic, a logged user should see a different icon for the topics where he posted something.

Huge changes but several issues. Oh boy…i keep finding myself “looping” the pages in this forum. Wonder why they didnt test this in the end of world before release. Sounds funny to ask more money when same time it seems a lot of functions here are messed up and not working. Best luck to fix them as soon as Ellislab can. Hope they also have time to quarantee ticket system….

Looks like the spam posts are back as well, so scrap that from the list of improvements…

    And how.

    BROKEN URLS

Not 100% forum related, but with the change of URL structure (ie, moving from ‘codeigniter.com’ to ‘ellislab.com/codeigniter’ the “download previous versions of CI” links are broken and just redirect you back to ellislabs.com/codeigniter.

    http://ellislab.com/codeigniter/user-guide/installation/downloads.html

Spend 4 hours debugging a site because they’d hacked the core files and I couldn’t download version 2.0.2 so I could compare the files and see what they’d hacked. It was just lucky I had a backup of a site that was built on that version so I could compare their core files against mine.

Same for me: No way to read my private messages. There is just no menu that points to my inbox.

And usually I don’t follow links in an eMail that point to a different page than the page that actually sent that mail. That is: Links to ellislab.com in the mail I received are pointing to http://u188149.sendgrid.org/wf/click?upn=... which makes me feel like there’s some scam involved. #justsayin 😉

Drive by post to note some minor improvements pushed tonight:

    - pagination is fixed
    - forums should be much faster
    - notification emails are more informative
    - new topic form is simplified

Thanks for the feedback everyone, improvements will continue in an iterative fashion, these are just the ones that I hit tonight.

On the post count request, I’ve personally not found that as a useful data point as prolificacy and quality aren’t the same. My intention was to use the vote up / down metrics for each user as a helpful indicator. If that were displayed with the poster, I’m curious if you would still want to know their post total?

[Edited to add]: - username length requirement has been relaxed to their original values

We use SendGrid for transactional emails, and they rewrite the links so we can track delivered/opened/clicked to help solve delivery issues when they arise.
