The colour scheme is hideous and very developer unfriendly! First thing I’ve done is banged up a custom style sheet, so we’re able to resolve things ourselves there.

However the big issue is load time. Down here in Australia each page is taking 1 to 2 minutes to load.

The subject in the notification emails are all generic now.
“Someone just posted in EllisLab Community Forums”
No reference to the specific forum or topic.

    instead of
    “Subscription notification: [thread topic]”

Also going to http://codeigniter.com redirects to http://ellislab.com/offline.html (notice the offline part)

    Well, New is just “new”...
I agree with the need for BLACK text, not Grey, my old eyes have real trouble reading this text as I type it.  The “Font Formatting” color pulldown does not even have a ‘Black’ color option.
The ‘code’ and ‘quote’ box background colors need to be toned down for less contrast, for the same reason.

Cronix is right about the search box options, at least using Firefox, no “CodeIgniter” distinction for the forum list.  Sorry, but I’m not looking for Ellislab specific questions and would like to see more separation between CI and non-CI forums.

Signatures are a Good Thing, please bring them back.

I’m guessing that we are limited to 6000 characters, since the character counter seems to start about there.  So no more long code posting allowed?
This is my first viewing of the new fora layout and I’ll have more freeback after using it for a while.

Curiously, the spell checker doesn’t like Codeigniter but wants CodeIgniter instead, but refuses to accept Ellislab (Ok, it could be an advertising ploy to highlight Ellislab on editor page, I’m ok with that <g>)
[EDIT]  At least the spam is gone! For good I hope….
    [EDIT-2] No logout button?

I have to admit that I also find myself in the same situation as CroNIX. CI is my main interest (and 99% of the time my only interest) regarding EllisLab products at the moment. I’ve used EE and will likely do so again, but participation on the forums is limited to searching for information regarding a particular solution I’m in need of. It would be lovely to be able to compartmentalize CI for those who prefer.

I would’ve preferred to see CI on its own site with its own forum still, but since that’s not up to me I’ll just try to get used to whatever is here.

    [EDIT-2] No logout button?

That can be found when clicking “ACCOUNT” in the upper right hand of the page.

    Adding some more things:

    - Confirming long page loading times (about 20-30 seconds, and I’m on the US East Coast)
    - There’s no “Remember Me” option for logging in (or I’m just too blind finding it)
    [Edit]
Remember me function is not available in the login form that drops out at the top, but however is available on other login pages (e.g. if I directly access a private message without being logged in, I can choose “Keep me logged in”. However, I sometimes think it does not work properly though 😉)
    - As I posted above (and just bumping it): I’d really love a more clearly separation of CI and other EllisLab’s products. I’m (not yet) in need for topics on MM, EE, ...
    - Signatures: I don’t really care; even disabled them in the user preferences 😉
    - codeigniter.com/forums still redirects to ellislab.com/offline.html 😉
    [Edit]
Seems to be a caching issue in FireFox, curling the address and using Chrome gives me a 301 status code 😉

If you are having problems with redirects, please clear your browser cache; it likely has it stuck from our downtime Sunday.

Is it just me or is page 2 on this post repeating all the posts from page 1?

Actually, page 1 does not show the posts of page one as far as I remember the posts from the past days. However, it is true that page 1 and 2 have the same content - except for the OP.

Yeah the pagination appears out of whack, for sure.

Another small item, is the very last section of the forum says “Hidden”, but doesn’t have any actual subforums (at least ones visible to us normal folk). Seems kind of pointless to show a hidden section with nothing in it. A small permissions issue somewhere, no doubt. Easy fix.

Here’s an ellislab.com navigation issue that’s worth reviewing and fixing.

If you go to the forum while logged out, and see a discussion thread with a link to a particular bug, clicking the link takes you to a log in screen. Once logged in, the redirect dumps you onto the top level of bug list, not to the acutal link to the actual bug report.

    To see this in action,

    1. Log out.
    2. Go to this thread in the forum
    3. Click the link in that reply.
You’ll be directed to log in again
    4. Log in
    5. VOILA. top of the bug list, not the actual destination.

    Please fix! 😊

I also really miss the “remember me” feature, as well as being able to mark all topics read (like the old CI forum let you do)

When doing a filtered search, like “new posts”, etc., when it shows the list of new posts results it doesn’t tell the parent forum the post is from.  It only shows the name of the child forum.  Some child forums are identically named, such as “community support” so you don’t know what parent forum that post belongs to until you click on it.  See attached.  You don’t know if these “community support” forums are from the “Expression Engine2”, “MojoMotor” or “Expression Engine1” forums because they all have a “community support” subforum.

Oh, I really should mention the first major annoyance I had. As soon as the new forum was up, and I went to log in, I was presented with a screen that said my user name had to be X characters long (like 5 or 6 I think), so I had to create a new one. That’s a bummer in itself, but I did it anyway. Oddly enough, I have to log in using this username, but all of my posts still display my original. The whole thing is just kinda weird.

Are they going to implement our request?

Looks like the spam posts are back as well, so scrap that from the list of improvements…
