Awesome to have this meetup at SXSW! One tiny suggestion though: make this party only available to people with a SXSW badge or at least make sure the attendees are interested in EE in stead of the free booze you’ll be offering. We organized the EECI pre-party at SXSW last year and had around 40 party crashers. Friday night and free booze is for locals a great way to start the weekend. 😉
The party crashers are the worst! I used to setup events during the music portion and it was a similar problem. Making sure guests were there because they were interested in the bands and not just the drinks.
I think we have a good solution though. The venue is open to the public that night since it was short notice and it’s a big place, so we decided to do drink tickets. This way, we can directly control who the free drinks go to. Maybe we’ll setup a password in advance. Swordfish?
Paper Tiger will sponsor the first couple rounds. If any other companies want to sponsor a round by buying tickets, we can help arrange it with the venue. Friday night and free booze IS a great way to start the weekend! 😊
