I followed this to send SMTP email with Mailgun: https://u.expressionengine.com/article/using-mailgun-to-send-emails-from-your-website When testing, i get this error:

Warning stream_socket_enable_crypto(): Peer certificate CN=*.supercp.com' did not match expected CN=smtp.mailgun.org’ ee/legacy/libraries/Email.php, line 1715

I get this on local and remote server.

Did you try testing from Tools > Utilities > Send Mail?

The test on settings > outgoing email has some issues and basically never works for me.

And your settings are as follows?

  • Protocol: SMTP

  • Email Newline character: \r\n

  • Server Address: smtp.mailgun.org

  • Server Port: 587 (this always works for me)

  • Connection Type: STARTTLS

  • TLS Version: 1.2 (or 1.3)

  • Check username and password again

Yes, exactly as is. Also tested using curl swaks successfully so i know my credentials and settings are correct.

Seems like a niche server config issue. You could try a different connection type and port and see if any other combination will work.

I’ve tried all sorts of different setting combinations. Does anyone have tried and true services for SMTP that play nice with ExpressionEngine. This has always been a pain point for member transactional emails.
