I just installed Forum in ExpressionEngine 7.5.6 and I realized that no new member registration allowed.

Must I have a paid license for this free feature to work? or I have done something wrong?

Thank you! ?

ps. I only need Members in Forum and not in the website as Admins.

Check your Member settings… and toggle “Allow new Registrations” on. I think that is all you need to do to activate it, although you likely need a license if you want to allow those users to have access to the Control panel without a warning banner. I haven’t used the Forums so it’s possible the same caveat exists there.

YEah… probably so then… I haven’t used the forums so wasn’t sure… I know that with traditional member system it lets you create multiple accounts but you get the annoying warning message in the CP.

The forum is definitely free, so that shouldn’t be in play on the latest EE.

But I think that message is a hint- go look in ‘Members- Roles’ and make sure both pending and members are unlocked- see below.

There are alot of permissions associated with frontend member sign-ups. So you have to allow them, and you need to decide if it’s automatic or if they have to do email verification or manual verification and such. But if you get those right and unlock the role, it should work.

If it still gives you any trouble, let me know and I’ll test it out.

OK Robin that fixed it. Thanx again.

Two more things I’ve noticed in Forums

  1. The Theme Changer at the bottom doesn’t work
  2. The Login Member at Statistics shows only the default user

Can you check it?

Thanx again for your time.

Robin hi again

I get this every time I use search

setTimeout(function(){document.location='https://www.mysite.com/forums/search_results/2e205f3d0f8f419ce030fb7bc1020b2f/'},1000)

I guess that is some js problem. Any help on that?
