If a Wygwam field was changed to Redactor-X (EE 7.4) …..should it “just work” ? (and prior entries wouldn’t burst into flames?)

From a slack communal effort:

  • Yes, though if you have set up a custom styles menu that won’t automatically translate - though you can set up something similar if you do the Redactor X settings manually.

  • Converting Wygwam field to a Redactor-X field appears to wipe out any table code in the entries. BUT the RTE cKeditor option supports source code editing in EE 7.4 and converts smoothly.

  • WYGWAM ‘Read more’ separators get jacked up when I convert to Redactor. BUT not overly difficult to replace the wygwam <!--read_more--> with the Redactor X <div class="readmore"><span class="readmore__label">Read more</span></div> (Find/Replace would work- just backup the database first)
