Hello. Thanks for taking the time to help!

Error when trying to upload image into upload dir … but appears to upload image but EE Image Manager does not see it…FTP verification and files are there

1- Created Upload Dir via Plesk and set/verify permissions 2- Files > ‘New’ Upload Dir > and pointed to created dir 3- tried to upload and seemed to work (spinning progress bar) 4- verified and can see all files and sub-folders via FTP that EE created 5- was also able to created a subfolder via >Files> 6- Tried Branding Upload - failed 6- Files > Upload > Failed

attached screen grabs

Update: I am told that the new release solves this…I am in process of updating to Version 7.1.5.

I will update with the result.

Hi reinvent,

Did version 7.1.5 solve your problem?

I have a student experiencing something similar in version 7.1.5. I’m wondering if a previous bug was reintroduced with the 7.1.6 update.

thanks!

Hey,

Actually, when I tried to update to 7.1.5 I had some other strange issues…I decided to jump ship from MS Win running ASP and installed on Linux Server and has worked great…

Literally learned this lesson twice in the decade I have been working with EE. Microsoft product just does not play nice with others 😉

Thought I would post the details and resolution to the problem of not being able to upload files into the file folder created via ee control panel.

in my course students are using MAMP as their local development environment before migrating to a remote server. Students are mixed with using Macs and PCs. After getting EE installed and working, PC students were getting this error message (complete with html entities):

“Class "finfo" not found”

when trying to upload images via either the EE File manger or file field when creating a channel entry.

Research led me to this current forum thread.

Upon further research I found this stackoverflow info:

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/34982109/finfo-class-not-found-in-php-7-0-1

So, it’s nice to know the issue wasn’t with ExpressionEngine but with the MAMP php install on windows. Typically I’d have PC students use WAMP or XAMPP, but I preferred things being more consistent to keep things less confusing for students. So much for that idea!

I hope this helps someone with the same issue.
