Grouping fields for fluid field?
How Do I?
The attached image is from the Fluid Fieldtype info in the docs, and it shows a curious “Contact Email” field. How does one accomplish a field “group” like that? As far as I can tell, it’s only possible to have multiple fields by using a grid field type.
In an ideal world, I’d be able to create a field “group” and include it as a single button in my fluid field type. Something like:
- Field name: Heading
- Sub field (text input): Heading Text
- Sub field (select dropdown): Heading Type -> Heading 2, Heading 3, Heading 4
Is that possible? Thanks!
You can do something a bit like that using conditional fields - if you make fields within the fluid field conditional (on say content being put into another fluid field) you can have the fields to fill in showing be a bit dependent upon what the user has already put in.
AFAIK proper “fluid field groups” are a feature that is coming in a future EE release - but when exactly is unclear.

A couple of notes here:
- The field in the picture is actually a Text Input field with the Text Formatting Override set to allowed. The text formatting is what that bottom dropbox is for.
- We do not currently allow field groups. However, we have announced that this feature will most likely be released shortly after the release of 7.0 if not in 7.0 itself.
