How Do I?

Hi everyone!

I’m very new to web development, and have been put to the task of updating EE from version 2 on a website. I have gotten the closest I’ve been yet, but when I go to the local version of the site, it now takes me to the index of/ page where it has the list of files and directories instead of showing the site as it did prior to the update. So how do I fix this?

I’m happy to answer follow up questions, because at this point I’m not too sure what’s important to include, but any sort of feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

Was it ever successfully running locally? Or did you update somewhere else and then move it local?

Yes, I had it successfully running locally right before the update

Hi Rebecca,

I’m wondering if it’s picking up a folder by that name in your web root, instead of the request getting routed through ExpressionEngine.

Any chance you have a folder by that name in your web directory? If so, if you rename it, does the page then display as intended?

Also, any chance you can post the URL your looking at as an example?

Thanks,

I’m working on novasunpower.com but I think you’ll only see the live version that hasn’t been updated yet, and a folder by which name, sorry?

It was just the main domain, nothing else. But I figured out the problem… and I’m embarrassed to say I just forgot to move over the new index file while updating after I had already renamed the old one.

Thanks for trying to help! Just a silly little mistake on my end :(
