Is this normal with EE?

I just found out that if you create a PHP session value inside a template, it’s only available for that specific group. The sessions are empty if you try to get the values with PHP from another template in another group. It does seem to work if the template is in the same group.

Is this the expected behavior in EE?

Not sure if it’s expected but i could see the value in it being so.

Do you use php inside the template itself? or did you make a module/plugin for it?

You could try to make some kind of session Layout and make the session there. Any template that extend this layout then has access to this session.

Haven’t tried it with php directly in the template so i don’t know if it’ll work. via plugin/module i can confirm you can as long as the templates use the layout the addon is used in.

Hope this helps.
