Control Panel Not Staying Logged In

Ever since upgrading to 6.2.5 I am constantly getting logged out of the control panel. I am now running 6.2.7 with the same problem. I have tried multiple browsers on multiple computers and I can’t stay logged in. Sometimes I get logged out after only minutes. I for sure can never stay logged in for more than 10 minutes or so at a time. I am not being inactive in my saves during this time.
This is new behavior on an install the has existed for some time.
Is there a fix for this? I can’t be the only one having this problem. I’m happy to provide any information you may need.
So far, you are the only one I know of! But it does sound maddening.
Are you using cookies, sessions, or both in the control panel sessions (Settings- Security and Privacy Settings). And double check your home computer- it does have the time set correctly, yes? That can cause havoc.
If you’re using cookies at all, I’d be curious if switching to sessions only, logging out, making sure your cookies are clear, then logging back in would matter.
I had it set to cookies only. Switching it to cookies plus session seems to have fixed it. Thanks for that. I hadn’t changed this setting though, so no idea why it suddenly started happening.
I am on a Mac and use Apple’s Time Server, so hopefully my time is correct.
This is a hobby site, so made me afraid to update my main site (which is also a hobby site, but more important to me).

Hrm. Glad it seems to be working, but I don’t love that it happened.
It suggests an issue with cookies- like maybe no cookie domain is set and you login on www and then sometimes end up on no www and so are logged out.
BUT I don’t know why that would suddenly start happening and I halfway think it would still be an issue if you were using both in the session settings.
I’ll definitely keep an eye out, see if we get any more reports. I typically run cookies on, and I haven’t hit any issues. But does sound suspicious!
Just a side note, I find I get logged out of the Control Panel, if, while logged in, I look at a front end page and turn on developer mode in the browser to test layout and Ipad for example.
Thank you for this…I couldn’t figure it out…I have the same issue, getting logged out when in developer mode to test the layout! It was making me crazy. I’m glad to know the cause.
