Query Add-On For another DB

How Do I?

I guess the answer is no, but I might ask anyway. Can you use the Query module with another database that is not the one hosting Expression Engine?

Read only is fine and actually what I want and being able to use a native tag and not enable PHP on those templates would be great. Of course, I guess the answer is no since the add-on can only talk to the EE database, but maybe there is a way to setup the other DB for authentication. Just asking in case its actually possible.

vw000, with the native Query addon you cannot use multiple databases. However, I believe there are ways to add multiple database connections in your config and then use those connections in your custom add-ons. Thus you could probably fork or extend the Query module to connect to a secondary connection. I wouldn’t know what to tell you as far as how to do it though 😊

Thanks, Andy, that is actually not a bad idea, to create a copy of the Query add-on that works with your specific database. My idea here is have security first, that means only read queries and make sure they are safe to use in Expression Engine reason why I like that add-on.
