Upgrade from old version v1.6.6 to most recent one
How Do I?
I recently took over the management of a site built with EE1.6.6 core and want to upgrade it to the latest version. From the posts I found, I understood that I need to upgrade to v1.7.3 but… where can I download this?
You will have to contact EllisLab to get the old builds. You definitely want to install and upgrade to each one one at a time, at least for the final 1.x builds and initial 2.x builds. Once you get a bit into 2.x (maybe above 2.6.x, can’t recall) it is safer to skip versions but I still wouldn’t recommend it personally.
Also definitely do this on a development copy of the site rather than live.
Ok, thanks for the tips! Meanwhile I indeed got in touch with Ellislab and upgraded to v1.7.3 on a test copy, first tests seem to be ok. Further updates still to be planned - after proper testing…
