Calculated field type

Has anyone had success building a calculated field type where other field values can be used to establish value for the field. I don’t see any plug ins for this.

I’m also looking for this kind of field type. Would like to calculate the total price (price + shipping costs) and sort based on this price in my templates.

You can develop a plugin to process/calculate the values of more than one field type. This will output the desired result into template. Plugin call would be like:
{exp:plugin_name fieldValue1={fieldValue1} fieldValue2={fieldValue2} fieldValue3={fieldValue3}}You can pass how many values here and these can be processed into plugin. Please share your thoughts on it.
