Hi All,
I hope I’m in the right place. New to EE as of 8/27. Long term goal is to transport my PHP / MySQL site 2/3 finished last year to the EE Framework. Will be looking for consulting / developing / graphics help.
To preface all that I write here - I want to say that I’d like to things the right way - no shortcuts. If it’s hard and will take a little longer but the right way to do it - then so it must be. I’m an IT professional by trade - but not programming.
A main function of my site will be to provide Terms & Definitions of 3 to 4 Industries. I see the ability to do this as one of the first things I must put in place, as I have team members who will populate data while other parts of the site are under development.
So, my questions for the Community / Experts are:
1.) What is the best way to create a Glossary within EE? 2.) Can this be created now, and then be brought in to the final site when ready? 3.) As I am new and need to learn - are there any resources (other than the EE site) that would be useful to me? 4.) Glossary requirement - these Terms & Definitions must cross reference with other “resources” (within 25+ mile radius).
I’m somewhat behind in development of my idea / site. I find my time valuable these days. I’d like to find someone to work with in “helping me along”. Almost a tutor of sorts for EE. Both to show me the way and possible code.
Would anyone have recommendations on how to find someone of both capability and reputation?
I hope I’ve placed this post in the correct forum - but I’m on my way. I see the power of EE and I’m quite impressed. Other than my immediate need for a Glossary - what should I be studying to get a very good foundation.
Lastly - I’m more of a learner by “doing” vs. reading the directions. I see one gentleman has a video series for $50 to help you build a site form beginning to end (the basics). Would you think this worth the investment?
I live in the Perimeter area of Atlanta - if anyone local that I could meet in person with, I would be interested in EE tutoring.
Thank you very much in advance - 😊
