I have customized the Edit Profile Form but These changes do not show up when I create a new Member, or edit an existing Member. I have tried everything I can find:
I edit this file: Themes > profile_themes > my_theme > edit_profile_form.html
I confirmed that the default profile theme is set to my_theme here: Members > Preferences > Default Member Profile == my_theme
I confirmed my_theme > edit_profile_form.html is correct here: Design >Themes > Member Profile Templates > my_theme
I cleared caches.
Any idea what I am missing?
Hello nitecode,
Let’s see if we can get this squared away. What version of ExpressionEngine are you using? Are you expecting to see these changes in the Control Panel? The templates you are changing are only reflected on the front-side of your site. For instance, when a member comes to register via your public facing website. You wouldn’t see these changes reflected in the Control Panel.
Cheers,
Hi Dan,
EE. 2.1.3
That explains why it is not working. I am expecting to see the changes in the control panel – the front end of the site is display only, no stand alone entry forms. My client, who logs into the control panel to view, edit and create all content and users only needs to use about 3 of the 12 fields on the Member Registration and Edit Profile settings for existing members. Is there not a way to customize this screen to limit the number of choices?
AOL IM, ICQ, Interestes etc are useful in a forum, but for a business minded site, these seem off topic and mildly unprofessional.
Thanks, Bryn-
Bryn,
Will do. You are correct, it could be made more clear, and I apologize for that lack of clarity. I’ll bring your concern to the Team.
For future reference, it’s a rule-of-thumb that any mention of Template/s is meant for the front-facing site. The Control Panel uses a whole different scheme for displaying content, but again, that is not really clear to the end user.
Cheers,
