Expression Engine 1.6.8 and MD Live Search

I was wondering if anyone has ever gotten MD live Search inside EE 1.6.8, I set this up recently on a site I am working on, and the input box shows up. Type something in, and nothing is returned, even though I can see what looks like the result area showing up.
However, i am not getting any errors that I can see, so i was hoping someone has had some experience with this component, so that I can move on to the next part of this project. Thanks.

I am beginning to think that this is not even possible to do, because I have google it without success and no replies to my post. Implies that this is either something that was never encountered before or I have this set up wrong on my site.
