Tagging - can a tag have an image?

I’ve just had a request from a client and was not sure what to suggest so I thought I’d run it past you guys first.

The site in question requires a good tagging system in place and without thinkinh about it I was going to use DevDemon Tagger. However the new request (and it’s a request not a requirement) is to optionally have an image associated with each tag.

The purpose of this would be on viewing a tag listing page to be able to also show the tag associated image in the page.

I suppose this could be done by creating another channel for “tag images” and then just tag each image but there must be a cleaner, less ugly solution?
