Hi!
I looked in a lot of places for an answer, but without luck so far. http://ellislab.com/forums/viewthread/190333/ I posted a similar thread in the wrong forum so I’ll try again here.
I want to add a my own custom field to the member profile and registration form. I know there are custom profile fields, but they are non dynamic and too limited for what i need.
The field(s) i want to add should to be member specific, so I can’t use groups with predefined settings.
So far I have found no solution or direction to look in. I looked into the dev/extension part of the site, but EE2 doesn’t have the right hooks for the functionality i want to add.
I wish to avoid surgical hacks, buying to the extensive and expensive member plugins that are around and writing my own member module. Has anyone an idea or a hint where to look, is this possible? I have been looking for a couple of weeks now without success. Thanks!

So I finally found something that might be useful. It’s less of a hack, though a load of work.
I’ll make my own module and access it via the CP through a mod in the CP theme. Anything but simple though it works. Finally.
I still have a problem though. I need this module to be accessible to other admins that can’t access the addons_modules sections on the site. Is there any way to do this?

I must say that atm, I have gone far off from only just custom dynamic profile fields. I’m making a module where you can edit custom user based settings.
In my case related to entry access.

Oh man, if only I had found out about this a week ago i’d gone for this. Could have saved me some headaches. Looks much more like what I need then the other member add on. I’ll keep it in mind if i ever need something like that.
