I am using EE 2 and MSM for the first time. Currently i have 2 sites in MSM, my live site and then my development site. The development site in a subdomain while I was working on it, but now I want to make it the live site. Essentially, I want to switch the domains and make my development site live. Anyone know the best way for me to do that without causing havoc?

IMHO MSM was never really intended to be used as the platform for a dev/staging/live environment.

But that doesn’t help you now..😉

I think your best bet is to explore server-level approaches, redirecting your domain to point to the site now at a sub-domain.

Try putting this in the main index.php file:

$assign_to_config['site_name'] = 'site_shortname_for_the_dev_site';

You might need to make some other config changes too.

Thanks, that helped and I did have to do some config things. Definitely would not use MSM as a development region again.
