Replacement for "On This Day" for 2.x?

I finally gave in and decided to upgrade to EE 2. Some of the addons I used for 1.x were easy to update and/or replace, others I just tossed out, as they were superfluous for my needs, now, anyway.

The one I can’t seem to update/replace is “On This Day” by Yoshi from http://psychodaisy.com/, and I can’t seem to find a replacement. It doesn’t look like Yoshi is supporting/updating any addons anymore and I’m not exactly sure what to search for.

Essentially, the addon would take a date (either the current date or specified date) and spit out other entries written on that date in other years. If one went to an entry written on 5/24/09 there would be a little blurb at the bottom like, “Written on this date in other years…” and then links and a short preview of other entries that had been written on 5/24.

Is there an existing addon that will do this in 2.x or some other way to code such a thing? If anyone knows, I’d greatly appreciate it.
