I’m using Mark Huot’s File extension, but it requires associating a file with a page.
I’d like a generic file manager that allows the user to upload files without them being associated with a page. Is there something I can add to allow this?

this is builtin to EE 2 - from the admin menu,
Content > File Manager
Then you could add a file custome field to your Content and link to files from in there.

Funny thing is, there’s a file manager built into EE - near the top right of the page entry screen. I didn’t notice it before because I never needed it.

top left, as I said! 😊 I know I discovered this myself by chance after googling about for half an hour . Note to self RTFM. :D
