Maybe this is a strange application, maybe not, but how can I create a SAEF that will send values input by the user to itself on reload while saving the record to the channel?

I want an input form where the possibility exists for many (nearly all) of the fields to be identical for several submissions. A scorecard, for example. Each game has a different score (perhaps), but they all belong to the same event, sport, league, tournament number, etc. I want a user to be able to enter all of the data at first, then hit submit and all the ‘universal’ data to remain in those fields when the page reloads (after saving the user’s first submission). That way, they’d only have to change ‘some’ info, instead of re-entering almost all of the same info over and over again.

I’ve defined some php variables in my template and successfully populated my fields with their values (when hard-coded). I just need to be able to define their values by the previous form’s submitted values.

Clear as mud?

you could code it up as a standalone edit form, pulling the most recent entry into the weblog:entries tag, but leave off the hidden entry_id field so that it doesn’t edit the existing record when submitted again
