This is my third new topic post - I never got any answers from my first two topic chains. People just stopped helping both times. As i expressed in both of my previous requests for assistance, this is extremely frustrating and a poor substitute for actual support. Why is it not possible for someone to take a half an hour to call me and help me figure out how to use your product ? I needed these two issues taken care of weeks ago, and here I am back at the forum typing out what I’m sure are vague descriptions of the problems. This system has twice proven to be ineffective and if I can’t get someone to actually walk me through solving these issues, I find it my responsibility to start blogging to clients looking for a content management system to inform them of our multiple instances of confusion, dead-ends, and non-support.

You posted in “HTML, CSS, and Design Help” every time. This is not an officially monitored support forum. If you do have a genuine Tech Support issue please post in “Tech Support”.

Why is it not possible for someone to take a half an hour to call me

You can review our support policy here. I am afraid we don’t offer telephone support at this point. Thank you.

first it was “you don’t have a credit to have access to support forums.” now it’s that i posted in the wrong category? really? so i’ll copy and paste my questions into the appropriate place, and then you’ll call me and tell me how to fix these issues even though you could have just done that and saved us both time? and my problems are specifically related to both html and css so how is the html, css, and desing help category incorrect? this is ridiculous

    Hi, wcbuckner -

First, I apologize for your frustration.  The reason that Ingmar mentioned that the HTML* forum is not officially monitored is because that is a community supported forum, we may not see your post.  By posting in the support forums below (Technical Support, for instance) your queries will be seen by our support team.

I have now moved this post to technical support so that we can begin the support process and get your issues resolved.

As for the support credit; we only offer support to those that own a license or have a support credit, so yes, that was an important step toward getting you support as described in the support policy Ingmar previously linked for you.

Now, I am not familiar with your other threads, and I am sorry they were not followed through to completion.  I recommend that you edit your phone number out of the post for your own protection.

We do not offer telephone-based support; but we are happy to assist you in these forums.  Can you please give a brief rundown of your technical support issue, following this format?  That way our TSS can begin the troubleshooting process with you right away.

    Thank you.

Ok, this is just ridiculous. Before you moved this thread into the appropriate forum, I came to this Technical Support forum and reiterated the two issues that no one has been able to help me with. I’ve been wondering why no one has responded, so I tried to find that post today andddd it’s not in here. Did you delete it when you moved this thread? I am so fed up with Expression Engine that I am going to sincerely suggest to my boss that we ditch this whole thing, eat the loss, and re-do our site on a different platform. This is, hands down, the worst “support” I’ve ever experienced.

    So, for the fifth? time:

One - I am trying to enter a hyperlink to a different trip on this page http://bit.ly/aWirDy (scroll to ‘Dates’ and look for ‘See Baja Multisport with Whales’); however, EE automatically inserts http://www.journeymexico.com/ before the intended URL. why? On the back end, this is exactly what I have entered in the ‘Date - More Info’ field: See Baja Multisport with Whales Dates

The “Use Category URL Titles In Links?” is set to NO

Two - We need (actually needed to get this going a month ago) the ability to create hotel profile pages. I duplicated a template that we want to use and renamed it Hotel Profile, and I created a new weblog named the same. When I publish Hotel Profile weblog, elements of the template show on the front end, but no content from the content fields show. I can’t get the new weblog to properly communicate with the new template.

If you don’t do phone support, how about skype? PLEASE! I am beyond tired of dealing with this forum, and we (paying clients totally dissatisfied with the level of support being provided) would really appreciate someone taking a half an hour of their time to Skype me and explain to me how to use your product like you said you would when we bought it.

    About your first question:

    So you entered:

    <a href="http://www.journeymexico.com/index.php/Trip/baja_multisport_gray_whales_hiking_and_sea_kayaking">See Baja Multisport with Whales Dates</a>

Check the following setting: CP Home ›  Admin ›  Weblog Administration ›  Weblog Management ›  Edit Weblog Preferences

    for

Automatically turn URLs and email addresses into links? Set that to No.

NOTE: This is a per weblog setting, so if you are using more than one weblog, you’ll need to change it again.

    Your second question:

Two - We need (actually needed to get this going a month ago) the ability to create hotel profile pages. I duplicated a template that we want to use and renamed it Hotel Profile, and I created a new weblog named the same. When I publish Hotel Profile weblog, elements of the template show on the front end, but no content from the content fields show. I can’t get the new weblog to properly communicate with the new template.

Simply duplicating a template and expecting it to work with another new weblog won’t work. You’ll need to make changes to the template to display the content you’re looking for. Do both weblogs use the same custom fields? Anything different except for the name of the weblog?

    Does that help?

Sorry, I meant to copy and paste “Automatically turn URLs and email addresses into links?,” which is set to NO - specifically, for the trip weblog. Other suggestions?

To clarify about the second issue - when creating the new weblog, I selected the info fields from our ‘trips’ weblog. The template I duplicated currently interacts with trips weblogs, so I thought duplicating that template and using the trips fields would work.

however, EE automatically inserts http://www.journeymexico.com/ before the intended URL.

This seems to be working fine? The link goes here, was that not intended?

Are you using absolute or relative links? Can you show us a little more of your template?

When I publish Hotel Profile weblog, elements of the template show on the front end, but no content from the content fields show. I can’t get the new weblog to properly communicate with the new template.

Again, can you show us such an example? A link to such a page as well as the relevant part of your code would be best.

Working fine? When you go to http://journeymexico.com/index.php?/Trip/baja_multisport_sea_kayaking_and_hiking_trip/ and scroll to the dates section and click on “view dates with whales,” it took you to the page you linked to in your post? It takes me and everyone else I’ve had test it to a 404 page.

I’ll post examples of what’s happening with the template/weblog stuff tomorrow when I get in.

wcbucker, I can confirm Ingmar’s reply. It takes you to http://www.journeymexico.com/index.php/Trip/baja_multisport_gray_whales_hiking_and_sea_kayaking.

    Maybe clear your browsers cache?

really? how could this be? it takes everyone in our office to: http://journeymexico.com/“http://www.journeymexico.com/index.php/Trip/baja_multisport_gray_whales_hiking_and_sea_kayaking”, which does not exist.

wcbuckner, you’re right, I get a 404 from that page. I suspect what’s happening is what you’ve typed in for that field.

Can you show us a control panel screen shot of the entry with the link?
